Sumaya Nur Adan completed her MPhil in Ethics of AI, Data, and Algorithms at the University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on global AI governance institutions, exploring equitable benefit-sharing and risk mitigation strategies. With a background in law and AI, Sumaya examines global majority representation in AI governance. She contributes to projects with the African Commission, UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Centre for the Study of Existential Risks, and Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative. Sumaya's work develops frameworks for diverse global engagement in AI policy, emphasizing Global South participation. Her research aims to create fair AI benefit distribution and risk management strategies that incorporate perspectives from the global majority.
