Fellow
Tao recently graduated with honors from Brown University, earning a BA in Behavioral Decision Sciences and a Data Fluency certificate. His honors thesis investigated the risks of AI integration into nuclear command and control systems through a comparative study of human and large language model behavior. At Brown, Tao co-led the AI Safety Team and facilitated an AI policy training program. His research experience spans human-robot interaction at Brown's Sloman Lab, institutional decision-making interventions at Pivotal Research, and moral decision-making at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. Tao’s work at IAPS will focus on compute governance: the oversight and regulation of computational resources.
